BERG Scooters: are the wheels suitable for different surfaces?

The BERG Nexo and BERG Proxus scooters are two popular choices for children and teenagers taking their first steps into the world of scootering. A frequently asked question is whether the wheels are suitable for different surfaces. In this blog, we answer the question: are the wheels of BERG scooters suitable for various surfaces?

BERG Nexo

The BERG Nexo scooter is equipped with high-quality PU (polyurethane) wheels, known for their durability and wear resistance. The wheels have an ideal and compact diameter, ensuring stability and comfort while riding. The tread pattern provides excellent grip, which is essential for safe scootering on different surfaces.

BERG Proxus

The BERG Proxus has similar wheels but with a slightly larger diameter, offering even more stability and speed by reducing rolling resistance. The Proxus wheels are also optimized for different terrains, ensuring your child can always ride safely.

Hard and even surfaces

The best surfaces for the BERG Nexo and BERG Proxus scooters are paved roads such as asphalt and concrete. The PU wheels of both scooters perform exceptionally well on these surfaces, providing a smooth ride with minimal resistance. This makes it easier for children to gain and maintain speed. Additionally, the tread pattern offers sufficient grip, keeping the scooter stable even during light turns or sharp maneuvers. Both scooters provide a comfortable riding experience on paved roads, making them ideal for use in urban environments or quiet streets.

Sidewalks and tiles also pose no problem for the BERG Nexo and BERG Proxus. The wheels are sturdy enough to absorb small irregularities, such as gaps between tiles, allowing your child to ride smoothly without losing stability or comfort. The grip of the wheels is optimized, significantly reducing the risk of slipping on wet or slippery sidewalks. This makes both scooters suitable for urban areas where tiles and pavements are common.

Uneven and soft surfaces

While the BERG Nexo and BERG Proxus perform exceptionally well on hard and even surfaces, grass and sand are less suitable terrains for these scooters. Both scooters can be used on grass and sand, but efficiency and speed will be lower compared to hard surfaces. The grip of the wheels is less effective on these terrains, leading to higher rolling resistance and a less comfortable ride. It is possible to ride on grass or sand occasionally, but for the best performance, we recommend avoiding these surfaces as much as possible.

Mud and gravel are even less suitable for the BERG Nexo and BERG Proxus. While you may be able to ride short distances on these surfaces, for your child's safety and comfort, it is best to avoid them.
